The progress was reviewed on Zinc-ZIP8-MTF1 signal pathway in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis and the mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine. There was an association of zinc(Zn2+)homeostasis, Zn2+transporters, and Zn2+-dependent transcription factors with cartilage injury. Futhermore, the Zinc-ZIP8-MTF1 signal pathway could regulate the occurrence and development of osteoarthritis.Until now, the research of traditional Chinese medicine in this field is limited to the regulation of Zn,2+, level, and is unknown about the influence on ZIP8 and MTF1. Therefore, it has important role in the treatment for OA to study the effect of traditional Chinese medicine on zinc-zip8-mtf1 signal pathway.
