Based on the characteristics of the pathogenesis and clinical manifestations, locations of COVID-19 are mainly in the pulmonary collaterals, and the core pathogenesis is “toxin impairing pulmonary collaterals”. Treatments of dispelling damp toxin, clearing away heat toxin and resolving stasis toxin should be applied as early as possible to clear the lung. The methods of aromatic resuscitation and clearing collaterals should be used in severe and critical periods. We should pay enough attention to open-close treatments on the depletion syndromes and resolving blood stasis to clear collaterals.During the convalescence, tonifying and activating the pulmonary collaterals, clearing away residual pathogens should be used. Based on “removing toxicity and dredging channels”, differentiation treatments of comprehensive syndromes could effectively relieve clinical symptoms, prevent progression and improve prognosis.
