The main cause of death in colorectal cancer is invasion and metastasis. It is important to control the metastasis for prolonging the survival period of patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Based on the etiology and pathogenesis, combined with classical medical records, various medical theories, clinical and basic experimental literature, this paper puts forward the TCM concept of recurrence and metastasis of colorectal cancer. Deficiency of healthy qi (especially spleen deficiency) is its internal root cause, cancer toxin (phlegm, blood stasis, toxin, latent pathogenic factor) is its necessary condition, meridian transmission and injection is its main way, and inducement can be the fuse. Finally, it causes the transmission of cancer toxin between meridians and collaterals, Zang organs and Fu organs, and meridians and Zang-Fu organs. It is proposed that the prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer invasion and metastasis should be based on strengthening the spleen, combining with various means of eliminating pathogenic factors (reducing phlegm, softening hardness, detoxifying, removing stasis, etc.) to dredge repair the damaged collaterals.
