This paper introduces Professor Zhou Yuhong’s experience in the treatment of chronic lymphoid leukemia by stages. It is considered that the disease is related to the liver, spleen and kidney, which can be divided into early stage (pattern of qi stagnation and phlegm coagulation), middle stage (pattern of phlegm stagnation and toxin accumulation) and end stage (pattern of essence and marrow deficiency). Based on the principle of “strengthening healthy qi to eliminate pathogenic factors”, Professor Zhou treated the disease with the methods of resolving phlegm to dissipate stagnation and raising healthy qi in the early stage, eliminating toxic materials to disperse accumulation and invigorating qi to nourish yin in the middle stage, and supplementing essence to replenish marrow and removing toxic materials at the end stage. During the treatment, the middle Jiao should be protected and the attacking method should be stopped at the right time.
