Objective:To study the current status of domestic patent application of Chinese medicine compound for anti-colorectal cancer in the past 10 years, and explore the drug use and compatibility rules in the patent compound. MethodsThrough the patent search system of the State Intellectual Property Office and the SooPat patent search engine, the common search and classified search were used to search the patent application of Chinese medicine compound for anti-colorectal cancer in the database by using “colorectal cancer (rectal cancer, colon cancer)”, “intestinal tumor” and “Chinese medicine” as keywords. Relevant analysis was carried out after the establishment of patent database of Chinese medicine compound, statistics of its application amount, legal status, application area, application subject, and medication status.  Results:①Overall, the patent for the enrolled Chinese medicine compound (5.70%) was still relatively small. From 2014, the application for the patent of Chinese medicine compound for anti-colorectal cancer clearly showed an active trend. ②The total number of patent applications of Chinese medicine compound for anti-colorectal cancer in Shandong Province far exceeded that of other provinces and cities, accounting for 35.44% of the total number of applications. ③In the patent application of the Chinese medicine compound for anti-colorectal cancer, the individual occupied the majority, and the enterprise company was also one of the main research and development for the patent of Chinese medicine compound. ④In the patent application of Chinese medicine compound for anti-colorectal cancer, only 3 items referred to specific types of syndromes, accounting for only 2% of all patents. ⑤The prescriptions of the patent compound of Chinese medicine for anti-colorectal cancer was mainly based on current prescriptions with lots of Chinese medicine; the most frequently used Chinese medicine in the compound was Baihua Sheshecao (Herba Hedyotis Diffusae), Huangqi(Radix Astragali), followed by Banzhilian (Herba Portulacae Grandiflorae), Fuling (Poria), Baizhu (Rhizoma atractylodis Macrocephalae), etc. Among the medicines, most of them were attributive to the spleen and stomach meridians. The therapeutic principle was mainly to clear away heat and remove toxic materials, replenish qi and strengthen healthy qi, strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness, and the herbs were mostly bitter in flavor and cold in nature, accompanied by the herbs sweet in flavor and warm in nature. ⑥The most commonly used couplet medicines were Baihua Sheshecao (Herba Hedyotis Diffusae) -Banzhilian (Herba Portulacae Grandiflorae), Huangqi(Radix Astragali) -Banzhilian(Herba Portulacae Grandiflorae), Fuling(Poria) -Baizhu(Rhizoma atractylodis Macrocephalae), Huangqi(Radix Astragali) -Ezhu (Rhizoma Curcumae) and so on.  Conclusion:In the past 10 years, the number of patent applications of Chinese medicine compound for anti-colorectal cancer has increased year by year, but there are still problems to be overcome, such as the improvement of clinical and experimental research evidence, the combination of TCM syndrome types and compound patents, etc. The main idea of medication is to clear away heat and remove toxic materials, replenish qi and strengthen healthy qi, strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness, and the Chinese medicine with the function of activating blood circulation to resolve stasis also has certain potential in patent research and development.
