Yu Genchu, the founder of Shao school of cold damage diseases, advocated the treatment methods of Zhang Zhongjing and the treatment methods for warm diseases. His book Popular Treatise on Cold Damage diseases, contains 17 sorts of purgative prescriptions, 10 in the name of Chengqi, 7 in other name but secretly meanig Chengqi, with perfect theory and method as well as detailed prescriptions and herbs. This paper categorizes the 17 prescription, introducing the origin and development of each prescription and the body pathophysiology of the reaction behind it, in order to fully present Yu’s rich experience and ways of syndrome differentiation in treating yangming fu-organ excess syndrome.
