Objective:To observe the effect of Jianpi Xiaozhuo Decoction on serum hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in patients with metabolic syndrome of the phlegm-stasis type. Methods64 patients with metabolic syndrome of phlegm-stasis type were randomly assigned into control group (32 patients) and treatment group (32 patients). Improved lifestyle and exercise therapy were given to the control group and Jianpi Xiaozhuo Decoction was administered to patients in the treatment group on top of the treatment in the control group. Treatment duration was 3 months. Clinical efficacy was observed. Changes in TCM syndrome score, waist circumference and serum hs-CRP level were compared.  Results:①=1\*GB3The total effective rate was 84.4% and 50.0% in the treatment and control groups, respectively. The clinical efficacy in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (P<0.05). ②=2\*GB3After treatment, TCM syndrome scores and waist circumference decreased in both groups (P<0.05); they were lower in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05). The differences in TCM syndrome scores and waist circumference were greater in the treatment group than in the control group compared to those before treatment (P<0.05). ③=3\*GB3After treatment, the level of serum hs-CRP decreased in both groups (P<0.05); it was lower in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05). The difference in hs-CRP level was greater in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05). ④=4\*GB3Pearson correlation analysis showed that the degree of decline in serum hs-CRP level was weakly positively correlated with decrease in waist circumference (r=0.410, P=0.016) and TCM syndrome score (r=0.492, P=0.024).  Conclusion:Jianpi Xiaozhuo Decoction shows satisfactory effect in treating metabolic syndrome of the phlegm stasis type. It can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients and reduce low-grade in flammatory reactions.
