This paper discusses the syndrome and treatment characteristics of diabetes in Qianjin Fang(Recipes Worth A Thousand Gold)and its influence on later generations. It is considered that Sun Simiao’s diagnosis and treatment are based on fire. He often used the simple recipe and small compound recipe,and emphasized dryness-heat as the root cause. He often medicated with large dose and used heavy prescriptions for severe and lingering illness,which combined with assistant drugs for protecting spleen and stomach. Tianhuafen(Radix Trichosanthis),Huanglian(Rhizoma Coptidis) and Zhimu(Rhizoma Anemarrhenae) are applied with high frequency,which lays the foundation for the treatment of diabetes in later generations,and points out the direction of medication.
