By analyzing Ye Tianshi’s writings such as Guide to Clinical Practice with Medical Records and Ye’s Medical Cases of Unblock-printed Edition,it found that he did the profound study on Zhang Zhongjing’s therapy of dredging collaterals in Treatise on Cold Pathogenic and Miscellaneous Diseases. Zhang Zhongjing emphasized the therapy of promoting blood circulation for removing blood stasis and obstruction in collaterals,paid attention to the application of insect drugs,and created Xuanfuhua Decoction,Biejia decocted Pill and Dahuang Zhechong Pill,which preliminarily established the theoretical and clinical basis of therapy of dredging collaterals. From clinical practice,based on the principle-method-recipe-medicines in Treatise on Cold Pathogenic and Miscellaneous Diseases to guide the syndrome differentiation and treatment of collateral diseases,Ye Tianshi developed the therapy of dredging collaterals and formed the methods such as dredging collaterals with pungent natured and moistening drugs,dredging collaterals with pungent and warm natured drugs,dredging collaterals with pungent natured drugs and aromatics,dredging collaterals with insect drugs,tonifying deficiency for dredging collaterals and so on,which made great contributions to the inheritance and development of Zhang Zhongjing’s therapy of dredging collaterals.
