Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Xiaoying Mixture combined with glucocorticoid in the treatment of thyroid associated opthalmopathy(TAO)above active stage III grade. Methods Sixty patients with TAO above active stage III grade were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group,30 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with stosstherapy of methylprednisolone. Meanwhile,the treatment group was orally treated with Xiaoying Mixture and the control group was orally treated with the placebo,with a course of 3 months. The clinical efficacy was observed,and the changes of NOSPECS grades and clinical activity scale(CAS)score were compared.  Results: ①The clinical total effective rate of the treatment group and control group was 93.33% and 83.33% respectively. The clinical efficacy of the treatment group was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05).②After treatment,the improvement on NOSPECS grades in the treatment group was more significant than that in the control group(P<0.05).③For the comparison between treatment before and after,the differences on CAS score was statistically significant in both groups(P<0.05).For the comparison of the difference of CAS score before and after treatment,the difference in the treatment group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).  Conclusion: Compared with the single glucocorticoid stosstherapy,Xiaoying Mixture combined with glucocorticoid can more significantly alleviate the clinical symptoms of patients with TAO above active stage III grade and control the disease development.
