Through the literature analysis on the recordation of pericardial membrane,collaterals,Danzhong and heart in Inner Canon of Huangdi,the category of pericardium,pericardial membrane,Danzhong and heart was clarified. It considers that pericardium is the abbreviated form of“pericardial membrane and collaterals”,which originally belongs to the vascular of “heart”.Danzhong and pericardial membrane together constitute the “heart”. The function of pericardial membrane belongs to the yin nature of “heart”function,which defines the scope of heart function and understand the state of heart spirit. The function of Danzhong belongs to the yang nature of “heart”function and achieves the coordination of qi and emotional activities between five zang viscera together with pericardial membrane,which is deposited in the body cavity mediated by pectoral qi.
