Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy and the mechanism of Bushen YiXin Tablet combined with western medicine on hypertension with erectile dysfunction(ED). Methods80 male patients of primary hypertension on grade 2 with ED were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group,40 cases in each group. Both groups were received conventional treatment of western medicine,and the treatment group was received Bushen Yixin Tablet additionally,with a course of 3 months. The mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure within 24h,ED classification and indexes(IIEF-5)and the adverse reaction were observed and compared before and after treatment.  Results:①Comparison between the treatment before and after within group,the mean systolic blood pressure(SBP)and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)within 24h were up to the standards,and significantly decreased after treatment in both groups(P<0.05). Comparison of difference before and after treatment,there was statistically significant difference on the SBP between the two groups,and the SBP in the treatment group was decreased more significantly than that in the control group(P<0.05). But there was no statistically significant difference on the DBP between the two groups(P>0.05). ②Comparison between the treatment before and after within group,the differences of ED classification and IIEF-5 in the treatment group were statistically significant(P<0.05),while those in the control group were not statistically significant(P>0.05). Compared between the two groups after treatment,the differences of ED classification and IIEF-5 were statistically significant,which suggested that the effects of the treatment group on the improvement of sexual function were better than those of the control group(P<0.05). ③Comparison between the treatment before and after within group,the level differences of NO and ET-1 were statistically significant in both groups,the NO level was significantly increased and the ET-1 level was significantly decreased(P<0.05). Comparison of the difference of the treatment before and after between the two groups,the serum levels of NO and ET-1 changed more significantly in the treatment group than the control group(P<0.05). ④There were no adverse reaction in both groups during the treatment.  Conclusion: Bushen Yixin Tablet combined with western medicine can be used in the treatment of hypertension with erectile dysfunction,which effectively reduce the blood pressure and improve the erectile function. Regulation of vascular endothelial function may be one of its mechanisms.
