This paper discussed the syndrome and therapy of spontaneous sweating and night sweating due to depression syndrome. It indicates that apart from the insecurity of defense-exterior Qi and Qi deficiency of lung-spleen syndrome,depression syndrome can also lead to spontaneous sweating by disturbing the heart spirit,including panic,angry,timidity,worry and depression. Another,as yin deficiency with effulgent fire and heart-blood deficiency syndromes do,depression syndrome can also cause night sweating by the overconsumption of yin-blood induced by seven emotions such as joy,anger,panic,fear and excessive worry and thought. This article analyzed and demonstrated the common syndrome and treatments of spontaneous sweating caused by yin deficiency with effulgent fire and heart-blood deficiency,which could belong to the category of syndrome differentiation for depression syndrome. Spontaneous sweating and night sweating due to depression syndrome is concealed by the general sweating,which accompanied by a wide variety of clinical manifestation and presented the characteristics of masked depression syndrome and/or general depression syndrome. The treatment of spontaneous sweating and night sweating due to depression syndrome should be based on depression,including soothing liver and regulating qi to relieve depression,enriching yin and clearing heat to purge fire,tonifying qi and blood to nourish heart,sedation and tranquilization to stable mind,coordinating heart and kidney,tonifying liver and nourishing heart,soothing liver and strengthening spleen,tonifying spleen and heart,and other multiple treatment principles and methods. Modern medicine has confirmed that spontaneous sweating and night sweating due to depression syndrome are affected by psychological factors and mostly caused by dysfunction of autonomic nervous system.
