This paper summarized professor Que Huafa’s experience in the treatment of upper extremity lymphedema after breast cancer surgery. Professor Que recommended the blood stasis and water retention as the main pathogenesis. He advocated that the main therapeutic method included promoting blood circulation and excreting water with dredging collaterals,replenishing and regulating qi.In early stage,blood stasis combined with dampness, the treatment focused on draining dampness and alleviating edema.In advanced stage,blood stasis combined with phlegm,the treatment focused on resolving phlegm and softening hardness,warming yang and dissipating mass. He emphasized the combination of syndrome differentiation,disease differentiation and constitution differentiation. The principle of treatment as reinforcing healthy qi and eliminating pathogen and treating branch or root should be flexible used. One proven case was recorded.
