Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of “Qutan Dingxian Decoction” in the treatment of intractable epilepsy. MethodsSixty-one subjects were randomized into the treatment group(30 cases) and control group(31 cases), which all treated with routine modalities; besides, the treatment group was also given “Qutan Dingxian Decoction”, with a course of 12 weeks. The efficacy on frequency of epileptic seizures and abnormal electroencephalogram was observed before and after treatment.  Results:①For the frequency of epileptic seizures, the effective rate was 73.33% in the treatment group and 41.93% in the control group, the efficacy in the treatment group was than better the control group(P<0.01). ②After treatment, the abnormal electroencephalogram was obviously improved in both groups(P<0.05, P<0.01), with more significant improvement in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05).  Conclusion:“Qutan Dingxian Decoction” could be used in the treatment of intractable epilepsy which reduced epileptic seizure and improved electroencephalography.
