This article summarized the medical properties, attributions and indications of Herba Asari, as well as the application of flexible compatibility in the treatment of rheumatism. As a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine for treating rheumatism, it was often combined with other herbs,such as radix aconiti carmichaeli for warming yang and dispeling cold,angelica sinensis for nourishing blood and warming meridians,scutellaria baicalensis and radix rehmanniae for regulating yin and yang,gypsum fibrosum for relieving dizziness and dredging collaterals,radix angelicae tuhuo for regulating and nourishing liver and kidney. The appropriate dosage and proper use could reflect the flexibility of its clinical practice.
