This article introduces professor Tong Xiaolin’s considerations on syndrome and treatment of spirit-system disorders and herbal prescription. Top energizer is derived from conventional triple energizer to establish “four-energizer and eight-system” theory. In this theory, it is thought that many mental and emotional conditions belong to spirit-system disorders and nervous conditions to marrow-system disorders. Differentiation and treatment system is set for top energizer to treat spirit-system disorders. Therapeutically, Professor Tong concentrates on combination of Chinese and western medicines and puts forwards the principles of herbal prescription on the basis of condition-target regulation.
