Objective:To get a microscopic identification of scorpion and centipede in “Shaoyao Shujin Tablet”. MethodsWe determined identification characteristics of scorpion and centipede by consulting document. We used microscopic identification method to identify the scorpion and centipede in a single taste, mixing herbs and Chinese medicine.  Results:We succeeded in the microscopic identification for the scorpion and centipede in multiple batches, and initially identified bristles, body wall fragments as well as the unique tissues and organs of centipede as characteristics.  Conclusion:Integrated with variations and recognizations, debris of the gas pipeline in centipede and bristles in scorpion were selected as the main distinguishing features of mixing medicine. At the same time, the hair nest, tubercles and non-ossification of the scorpion body wall fragments were selected as auxiliary identifying characteristics in mixing medicine. This method provides a simple, fast and easy method of identifying for compound prescription of scorpion and centipede.
