Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture and Risperidone in the treatment of post-stroke hallucinosis. MethodsNinety-eight subjects were randomized into two groups:control group in which 49 cases were orally given Risperidone, and treatment group in which 49 cases were given acupuncture and oral Risperidone, with a course of three weeks. Results:The total effective rate was 97.96% in the treatment group and 87.76% in the control group, with better effects in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of such symptoms of life quality as somatization were reduced in both groups(P<0.05, P<0.01), with lower scores in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05). After treatment, the cognitive and memory scores were obviously increased in both groups(P<0.05), with higher score in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05). The contents of plasma 5-HT were significantly increased after treatment in both groups(P<0.05), with higher content in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion:In the treatment of post-stroke hallucinosis, acupuncture with Risperidone can effectively improve clinical symptoms and life quality possibly by promoting the release of plasma 5-HT.
