Objective:To explore the mechanism of tonify kidney and drain dampness method in the treatment of gouty arthritis, therefore, to provide the theory basis for the prevention and treatment of tonify kidney and drain dampness method of gouty arthritis  Methods:Eighty four rats were randomly divided into seven groups:blank control group,model group,herbal control group,western medicine control group,high dosage herbal group,medium dosage herbal group and low dosage herbal group,twelve rats in each group.The uric acid sodium and oxygen polybenzoxazines potassium were used to induce rat acute gouty arthritis model. HE staining method was used to observe the pathological changes of synovial tissue. ELISA was used to detect the concentration of serum IL-6 and TGF-β in rats and analyze the data  Results:Compared with the blank control group, levels of IL-6 and TGF-β in serum in each model groups significantly increased (P<0.05). Compared with model group, the concentration of serum IL-6 in high dosage herbal group and medium dosage herbal group decreased significantly(P<0.05), while the concentration of serum TGF-β increased (P<0.05), with no difference in colchicine group (P>0. 05). Compared with the model group, the concentration of serum IL-6 in herbal control group and low dosage herbal group decreased (P<0.05), but there were still differences compared with colchicine group (P<0.05). However, colchicine group and low dosage herbal group TGF-β concentration compared with the model group, no significant difference (P>0. 05)  Conclusion:Tonify kidney and drain dampness method can inhibit the expression of IL-6 in rat acute gouty arthritis, promote the expression of TGF-β, so it has an effect on the prevention and treatment of gouty arthritis.
