Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of “Chaiqin Wendan Decoction” for the treatment of insomnia of internal disturbance of phlegm-fire of the Shaoyang disease  Methods:Seventy cases with insomnia were randomized into treatment group and control group, with 35 cases in each group. Control group was treated with estazolam orally, and treatment group was treated with “Chaiqin Wendan Decoction”, with the course of 60 cases. The clinical efficacy, scores of PSQI and TCM symptoms were observed  Results:① The overall effective rate was 85.7% in the treatment group and 77.1% in the control group, with a difference between the two groups(P<0.05). ② There were significant differences in PSQI score between before and after treatment in both groups (P<0.05); after treatment, there were significant differences in PSQI score between the two groups (P<0.05). ③ There were significant differences in the symptom scores of insomnia, excess phlegm, epigastric oppression, restlessness, bitter taste, dizziness, red tongue, yellow and greasy tongue coating in the treatment group (P<0.05); while there was significant difference in the symptom score of insomnia in the control group between before and after treatment (P<0.05); after treatment, there were significant differences in the symptom scores of insomnia, excess phlegm, epigastric oppression, restlessness, bitter taste, dizziness, yellow and greasy tongue coating between the two groups (P<0.05)  Conclusion:“Chaiqin Wendan Decoction” has positive effect on insomnia of internal disturbance of phlegm-fire of Shaoyang disease by improving the TCM symptoms of insomnia, etc.
