Objective:To observe the effects of “Yinshen Pinggan Recipe” (YPR) on serum neuropeptide Y (NPY), calcitonin gene related peptide (CGRP), endothelin (ET) in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs), and to survey its mechanisms Methods:Twenty-one twelve-week old SHRs were randomly divided into 3 groups (group YPR, group Bena, group SHR), seven age matched male Wistar-Kyoto rats were selected as normal control group (group WKY). Twelve weeks after treatment, the standard blood pressure was tested by tail-cuff measurements. The expressions of serum NPY, CGRP, ET levels were measured by commercial ELISA kits Results:The systolic blood pressure (SBP) was significantly increased in SHRs after 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks treatment. And it could be inhibited by Yinshen Pinggan Recipe. In addition, the expression of NPY and ET were significantly increased in SHRs and inhibited by YPR, which increased the expression of CGRP Conclusion:YPR can reduce the systolic blood pressure of SHR, which was associated with the inhibition of the expression of NPY, ET and the activation of the expression of CGRP.
