This paper reviews the advance of experimental studies on the compatibility of single Chinese herbs containing aristolochic acid of its kidney detoxification function. We found that some medicines compatibility with the medicines containing aristolochic acid can decrease renal toxicity, including tonic herbs, hemorheologic agents, heat-clearing drugs, purgating drugs. These studies provide some reference for the clinical reasonable compatibility and security application of aristolochic acid in traditional Chinese medicine research.
