Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of “Yiqi Guben Tiaomian Formula” in treating IgA nephropathy of the spleen kidney qi-deficiency pattern. Methods Seventy-nine cases with IgA nephropathy of the spleen kidney qi-deficiency pattern were randomized into two groups. Forty cases in the control group were treated with conventional therapy, and 39 cases in the treatment group were added with “Yiqi Guben Tiaomian Formula” orally, with the course of 2 months.  Results: ① The total effective rate was 84.6% in the treatment group and 57.5% in the control group, with a difference between the two groups (P<0.01). ② After treatment, the levels of U-RBC and 24h urine protein were decreased in both groups (P<0.05, P<0.01), and the level of the treatment group was lower than that of the controls (P<0.05). ③ After treatment, no significant difference was found in the main symptom and total symptom scores of the control group (P>0.05); symptoms such as weakness and fatigue, soreness and weakness of waist and knees, and the total score of the treatment group were reduced markedly (P<0.05, P<0.01); there were significant difference in main symptoms and total symptom scores between the two groups (P<0.01).  Conclusion: “Yiqi Guben Tiaomian Formula” is effective to alleviate the clinical symptoms and proteinuria in patients with IgA nephropathy of the spleen kidney qi-deficiency pattern.
