Shanghai Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Shanghai J Tradit Chin Med) was founded in 1955. Currently, the full-text electronic version of published papers can be obtained from such online databases as CNKI (1955-present), Wanfang (2000-present), and VIP (1964-present). The latest full-text articles published in recent years can also be accessed through the journal’s official website (shzyyzz.shzyyzz.com). The hard copies of the journal since its first issue have been kept in the National Library of China, China National Archives of Publications and Culture, and the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Press and Publication.

 

Aims and Scope

Shanghai J Tradit Chin Med possesses an editorial style of Shanghai school, distinctive for its inclusiveness and pursuit of excellence, serving experts nationwide and communicating ideas worldwide. It aims to promote academic exchanges and contention in the field of TCM research, focusing on academic hotspots in the process of TCM inheritance, development and innovation, and comprehensively presenting high-quality and latest scientific research articles in TCM, Chinese Materia Medica, Integrative Medicine and related interdisciplinary fields by taking “innovation” and “inheritance” as two main themes of content.

 

Main Columns

Shanghai J Tradit Chin Med has designed the following columns: “Innovative Chinese herbal medicine and classic Chinese formula research, “Guidelines and Consensus”, “COVID-19 Special Column”, “National Standard Navigation”, “Inheritance of Famous Doctors”, “Experts' Commentary on TCM”, “Innovative Exploration in the Disciplines”, “Essence of Medical Principles and Theories”, “Elaboration on Classic Prescriptions”, “Clinical Trials”, “Experimental Research”, “Review” and so on.   

 

Influence Index

Accepted as one of Chinese Science Citation Database(CSCD),Chinese Science and Technology Core Journals and “Internationally Renowned and Very Important High-level Authoritative Journals” (Level T2 Excellent Traditional Chinese Medicine Journals), the quality, brand influence and social effect of Shanghai J Tradit Chin Med has been increasing significantly in recent years. It has an impact factor of 1.417 and an aggregate impact factor of 1.057, being on the list of Q1 journals in the field of traditional Chinese medicine.     In 2022, the disciplinary impact of Shanghai Journal of Traditional Chinese climbed 9 spots in the Q1 journal quartile ranking (rose from No. 32 to No. 23), and its Aggregate Impact Factor increased by 55.25% on the previous year (data source from CNKI).

    The core impact factor of Shanghai J Tradit Chin Med in 2022 has entered the top three in the discipline of TCM and top five in the discipline of Chinese materia medica (data source from ISTIC). Meanwhile, the Journal has a 500 per cent increase in the 2021 international citation counts and a 3.8-fold growth in the 2022 international citation IF, and it has a paper-funding ratio of 96 per cent in 2022 and the total citation counts reached 7,726.

    In October 2022, 125 papers published in Shanghai J Tradit Chin Med were selected as academic papers in traditional Chinese medicine with high-impact from 2011 to October 2022 by the CNKI “Academic Essentials Database” (https://xsjy.cnki.net/). Among them, 28 papers were rated as papers with “three highs”, i.e., high citations, high PCSI and high download counts (rank in the TOP 1 per cent in the discipline), and 7 papers were rated as high citation papers ranking in TOP 0.1 per cent.

 

According to the Annual Report of Impact Factor of Academic Journals in China (2021), in 2021 the domestic WEB download ratio of Shanghai J Tradit Chin Med reached 290%, and the articles generated 404,900 WEB download. In 2021, the total number of visits to our official website reached 1.12 million, and the number of visits using mobile terminals to journal articles published on Open Science Identity (OSID) media convergence platform exceeded 11,000.

 

Author-Friendly

Relatively, Shanghai J Tradit Chin Med has faster manuscript processing speed and shorter publication cycle. Once the manuscript is accepted, author(s) can apply for CNKI online first publish. The author(s) may receive a manuscript acceptance letter upon request after the manuscript passes the final review.

Upon publication, author(s) will receive a one-time payment for article written from the editorial office.

As an open access journal, author(s) will be asked to pay a one-time Article Processing Charge (APC) upon the acceptance of the manuscript. Author(s) of special manuscripts with financial difficulties may negotiate with the editorial office to request an APC reduction or waiver.

Author(s) of each article will receive 2 copies of Shanghai J Tradit Chin Med of the current issue when issued.
