The 21st century is the century of life science, and also the era of booming traditional Chinese medicine undertaking and industry in China. At present, studies related to traditional Chinese mateira medica and classical formulas is flourishing worldwide and has shown great value and significance. A large number of scholars have made remarkable achievements in the innovative research of traditional Chinese materia medica and classical formulas based on the inheritance of theories of traditional Chinese material medica and formulaology and the adoption of modern interdisciplinary concepts, technologies and methods.
In response to the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping’s ardent expectation about “carrying on the essence of TCM while pursuing innovations” in the new era, Shanghai Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine has published and will continue to publish academic articles that focus on the special topic of “Innovative Compound Chinese Medicine and Classic Formulas Research” to facilitate the high-quality development of the discipline of traditional Chinese material medica, and report the latest scientific development and progress of traditional Chinese materia medica and classical formulas.
