Based on nourishment source and morning‑evening tonification in treating treatment‑resistant depression
The nourishment source and the morning-evening tonification originated from Xue Lizhai, a renowned physician of the Ming Dynasty. The source, the root, and the essence, refers to the kidney and spleen, which are the congenital origin and the acquired foundation. The morning refers to the day, and the evening refers to the night. During the day, the spleen and qi are strengthened and invigorated, while at night, the kidney and yin are tonified and nourished. Following the characteristics of the natural changes of yin and yang during the day and night, the spleen and kidney are tonified and nourished, thereby regulating and tonifying the five internal organs, improving the negative emotions, low interest, and reduced learning ability of patients with intractable depression, and reducing the recurrence rate of the disease. And a proven case is presented.
