Xu Zhenye's experience in treating glioma with combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine in stages, focusing on strengthening body and reducing toxicity, supplementing qi and removing blood stasis
This article introduces the clinical experience of Professor Xu Zhenye, a renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner in Shanghai, in the phased treatment of glioma with a combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. Professor Xu believes that the pathogenesis of glioma patients is often due to deficiency of positive qi, phlegm and blood stasis. In clinical practice, based on the syndrome characteristics of glioma patients during chemotherapy, chemotherapy interval, and after chemotherapy, a staged treatment strategy for glioma has been established. During chemotherapy, the treatment focuses on tonifying qi and nourishing essence, combined with strengthening the spleen, dissolving dampness and nourishing the stomach, reducing toxicity and enhancing efficacy. During the intermission of chemotherapy and after chemotherapy, the treatment focuses on nourishing qi and removing blood stasis, and unblocking collaterals, reinforcement and elimination in combination. One proven case is presented.
