Exploring traditional Chinese medicine prevention and treatment of adverse pregnancy outcomes caused by hypercoagulability in PCOS from perspective of "preventive treatment"
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common reproductive endocrinological and metabolic disorder, often associated with insulin resistance and metabolic abnormalities, which increase the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes. However, the pathogenesis remains unclear but may be linked to a hypercoagulable state. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), the core pathogenesis of adverse pregnancy outcomes due to the hypercoagulability in PCOS is related to kidney essence deficiency, and qi stagnation with blood stasis. Treatment principles should focus on tonifying the kidneys and cultivating the essence, with an emphasis on ensuring smooth and unobstructed flow of qi and blood. Therefore, adverse pregnancy outcomes resulting from hypercoagulability in PCOS should be managed in stages, following the TCM principle of "preventive treatment". Preconception treatment should regulate the menstrual cycle and cultivate in advance to prevent potential damage, while post-conception treatment should focus on invigorating blood circulation and ensuring pregnancy preservation. A clinical case is presented for reference.
