Research progress of traditional Chinese medicine regulating Th1/Th2 balance for non⁃puerperal mastitis
Non-puerperal mastitis (NPM) is characterized by a prolonged course and frequent recurrences, and its development and progression are associated with immune dysfunction and an imbalance of helper T cells (Th)1/Th2. This review discusses the mechanisms of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in treating NPM from the perspective of immune inflammation, summarizing the effects of TCM on regulating the Th1/Th2 balance in patients with NPM. TCM may restore the immune homeostasis of NPM patients by regulating the secretion of Th1 and Th2 cytokines, inhibiting the activation of interleukin-6 (IL-6)/Janus kinase 2 (JAK2)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/nuclear factor-kappa B (NF‑κB) signaling pathways, and correcting the differentiation imbalance of CD4
