Puerperal fever was first recorded in the, Huangdi Neijing,, and until ,Synopsis of the Golden Chamber,, the diagnosis and treatment of puerperal fever had been initially formed.,General Treatise on Causes and Manifestations of All Diseases, in the Sui Dynasty for the first time subdivided the etiology of puerperal fever into external and internal causes, and most of the later physicians embraced his insights. In the Yuan Dynasty, Zhu Danxi proposed that "cold and bitter medicines and sweating medicines should not be used for postpartum illnesses", which had a profound impact on physicians in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In modern times, with the "Eastward Spread of Western Medicine", various doctors tried to integrate western medicine knowledge into the TCM system while opposing the abuse of warming and tonic medicines.
