Guo Shikui’s experience in treating Takayasu arteritis from the perspective of stasis
Professor Guo Shikui’s clinical experience in treating Takayasu arteritis from the perspective of stasis is introduced. As stasis and obstruction of vessels and collaterals is considered as the key pathogenesis of Takayasu arteritis, activating blood for removing obstruction in vessels is used as the basic treatment method. The formula “Guanxin Ⅱ (GXⅡ)” is used as the basic formula to fully display the important effects of blood-activating and stasis-resolving medicinals, i.e., “to restore a smooth, balanced and harmonious state by regulating the flow of qi and blood”. Treatment is based on syndrome differentiation, and varies in different patients with different symptoms. Four proven cases are provided.
