Understanding ecological principles of tumor formation based on holistic view of traditional Chinese medicine
The holistic view of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) emphasizes the unity of the internal and external environment and the organic integrity of human body. The formation of a tumor also constitutes an organic whole with its natural environment, social environment, internal environment, local microenvironment and intracellular environment, which presents characteristics of ecological medicine. It is beneficial to clarify the biological connotation of TCM prevention and treatment of tumor and lay the foundation for explaining mechanisms in tumorigenesis and guiding the clinical treatment of tumor by understanding the ecological principles in the process of tumor formation from the perspective of holistic view of TCM.
