Li Yan’s experience in the treatment of idiopathic edema
Professor Li Yan’s experience in the treatment of idiopathic edema is summarized. Professor Li believes that liver depression and blood stasis are the common pathogenesis of idiopathic edema, and the location of the disease is in the liver. The core pathogenesis is the disorder of water metabolism and the malfunction of the liver to dredge and discharge. The liver governs the discharge of qi, dredges the qi of the whole body, and is closely related to the spleen and kidney. Therefore, the treatment of idiopathic edema is mainly to sooth the liver, promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. In addition, it should be complemented by invigorating the spleen, replenishing qi and eliminating phlegm, regulating and tonifying the kidney yin and kidney yang. The representative formula is modified Sini powder and Danggui Shaoyao powder. Two cases are attached for exemplification.
