Study on optimized regimen of treatment of lumbar disc herniation with needle warming moxibustion combined with massage in lu’s traumatology department
Objective:To observe the differences in therapeutic effect of silver needle, filiform needle and anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs combined with massage in the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH) and to preliminarily explore the optimal combination of acupuncture and massage for treating LDH in Lu`s Traumatology Department. Methods120 patients with LDH were randomly assigned into three groups, 40 patients in each group. The three groups were treated with needle warming moxibustion using silver needle and stainless-steel needle and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesics, respectively. Half of the patients in each group were randomly treated with or without massage, 20 patients in each subgroup. All the indicators were observed at 5 time phases, namely T,0, (baseline point before treatment), T,1, (day 17±2), T,2, (day 35±2), T,3, (day 60±2) and T,4, (day 90±2), with T,2, as the endpoint for determination of treatment effect. At T,2, the observation indicators of each group were collected and statistics were obtained. Results:The effective rate was 87.5%, 75.0% and 57.5% in the silver needle group, the filiform needle group and the drug group, respectively after treatment, with significant differences in clinical efficacy (P<0.05). The ODI scores of the three groups changed after treatment (P<0.05), and symptoms improved with the 3 treatment methods. After treatment, there were significant differences in the pain scale scores in the silver needle group, the filiform needle group and the drug group (P<0.05), with more improvements in the silver needle group. Effect was observed with massage alone, and there was no interaction with other therapies in post-hoc analysis. Conclusion:Needle warming moxibustion in Lu`s Traumatology Department can alleviate the pain and functional symptoms of lumbar intervertebral disc. Needle warming moxibustion using silver needle shows remarkable effect and the effect is even better when combined with massage.
