Clinical observation on treatment of cervical vertigo by “Xiao Xingnao Kaiqiao” acupuncture combined with “Wei’s” chiropractic manipulation
Objective:To analyze the clinical efficacy of “Xiao Xingnao Kaiqiao” acupuncture combined with “Wei’s” chiropractic manipulation in the treatment of cervical vertigo. MethodsSixty patients with cervical vertigo in the Department of Spine, Xi’an Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were randomly assigned into treatment group and control group, 30 patients in each group. The treatment group was treated with “Xiao Xingnao Kaiqiao” acupuncture and “Wei’s” chiropractic manipulation. The control group was treated with traditional acupuncture and “Wei’s” chiropractic manipulation. The course of treatment was 10 days in both groups. The clinical efficacy was observed. The changes of symptom and function scores in cervical vertigo and mean vertebrobasilar artery blood flow velocity were compared. Results:①The total effective rate was 96.7% and 80.0% in the treatment group and the control group respectively. Clinical efficacy in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (P<0.05). ②After treatment, the symptom and function scores in cervical vertigo were increased in both groups compared with those before treatment (P<0.05). The symptom and function scores in cervical vertigo were higher in the treatment group than in the control group after treatment (P<0.05). ③After treatment, the mean vertebrobasilar artery blood flow velocity was increased in both groups compared with that before treatment (P<0.05). The mean vertebrobasilar artery blood flow velocity was higher in the treatment group than in the control group after treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion:“Xiao Xingnao Kaiqiao” acupuncture combined with “Wei’s” chiropractic manipulation shows good clinical efficacy in the treatment of cervical vertigo, and can significantly improve the patient’s vertigo symptoms.
