Research progress on anticancer mechanism of ginger via multi-targets and multi-pathways
This paper reviews the research progress on anticancer mechanism of ginger via multi-targets and multi-pathways. Ginger contains many kinds of plant active ingredients such as gingerol, volatile oil and so on, and shows many pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidation, inhibiting the proliferation of various cancer cells, promoting the apoptosis of cancer cells, regulating immune, anti-pathogenic microorganism, inhibiting the invasion and metastasis of cancer cells, and slowing down the toxic and side effects of cancer chemotherapy drugs. Ginger and its extracts show many characteristics in the prevention and treatment of cancer, including multiple components, multiple targets, multiple pathways, multiple links, safe and nontoxicity, and present obvious effects in the prevention and treatment of lung cancer, prostate cancer, rectal cancer, skin cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer and so on.
