Based on the theory of “excess Shaoyin”, combined with the modern pathogenesis of cholinergic urticaria, the etiology, pathogenesis, treatment and prescriptions of traditional Chinese medicine are discussed. The basic pathogenesis of this disease is hyperactivity of heart fire caused by excessive heart fire or deficient kidney water of Shaoyin, one by restricting lung, the other by burning vessels, the injury impacts the skin and then becomes the urticaria. The diagnose and treatment of Chinese medicine on this disease should focus on hyperactivity of heart fire, on the other hand, it should pay attention to adjusting the mind. The treatment should be based on clearing heart fire for tranquillization or intercourse between heart and kidney, combined with psychological counseling.
