Clinical observation on acupotomy combined with external application of Xiaoyu Powder in treating knee osteoarthritis
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of acupotomy combined with external application of Xiaoyu Powder in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Methods111 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomly divided into the treatment group (55 cases) and control group (56 cases). The treatment group was treated with acupotomy combined with external application of Xiaoyu Powder, the control group was treated with external application of Votalin emulsion, with a course of 2 weeks. The knee joint function related scores including Lysholm score and WOMAC score, knee joint pain score (VAS score), knee joint swelling degree and mobility were evaluated. The medication safety was observed. Results:①Finally 50 cases in the treatment group and 50 cases in the control group completed the trial. ②Compared with treatment before, the Lysholm score was increased in both groups one month and three months after treatment (P<0.05), while the WOMAC score and VAS score were significantly decreased (P<0.05). One month and three months after treatment, the Lysholm score in the treatment group was obviously higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), while the WOMAC score and VAS score were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). ③Compared with treatment before, the knee joint swelling degree in the treatment group was obviously alleviated (P<0.05), while the range of flexion was obviously increased (P<0.05) one month and three months after treatment. One month and three months after treatment, the knee joint swelling degree in the treatment group was obviously slighter than that in the control group (P<0.05), while the range of flexion was obviously greater than that in the control group (P<0.05). ④There was no statistically significant difference on incidence rate of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:Acupotomy combined with external application of Xiaoyu Powder in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis can obviously alleviate the pain and swelling of knee joint, and improve the mobility.
