This paper tries to discuss the syndrome and treatment of plague by Wu Youke from specific diseases. Wu Youke’s treatment of plague focuses on the dredging and dispersing of qi movement. Sweating therapy should be applied according to the condition,and be sure to keep the gastrointestinal tract unobstructed. Dahuang(Rhei Radix et Rhizoma)is preferred to dredge and disperse,rather than Huanglian(Coptidis Rhizoma). It is considered that the bitter-flavour and cold-natured drugs could only treat the manifestations but not root cause. After sweating,the symptoms are relieved,the pathogen is removed and the vital qi is restored. The therapy of dredging promotes the pathogen into the surface and then the therapy of dispersing expels the pathogen out. Wenyi Lun(Treatise on Plague)was complemented and extended by Dai Tianzhang and Yang Lishan,and Wu Jutong also discussed the prescriptions,and Chongding Guang Wenre Lun was made by He Lianchen,which enlarged the syndrome and treatment of epidemic febrile disease.
