Controlled observation and efficacy evaluation of “Yuanqitong”Chinese herbal medicated pillow with fumigation in the prevention of cervical spondylosis
Objective:To observe the preventive effects of “Yuanqitong” Chinese herbal medicated pillow with fumigation for cervical spondylosis. Methods 100 high-risk patients with cervical spondylosis who met the observation condition were randomly divided into the control group and observation group,50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with health education and sports instruction,the observation group was treated with “Yuanqitong” Chinese herbal medicated pillow for fumigation once a day based on the treatment for the control group,with a course of 3 months. After treatment for 3 months,the scores of pain rating index (PRI),visual analogue scale (VAS) and present pain intensity (PPI) were evaluated,and the efficacy was compared according to the symptom scores. Results: After treatment,all the scores were obviously decreased in both groups compared with treatment before(P<0.01),and the PRI score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P<0.01),while there were no significant differences on the scores of VAS and PPI between the two groups (P>0.05). The total effective rate of the control group was 88%,and the total effective rate of the observation group was 94%,the efficacy of the observation group on syndrome improvement was better than that of the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion: “Yuanqitong” Chinese herbal medicated pillow with fumigation can significantly decrease the syndrome scores of high-risk population with cervical spondylosis,which shows good efficacy in the prevention of the occurrence and development of cervical spondylosis.
