Wu Jutong,a famous physician of epidemic febrile diseases in Qing Dynasty,made good use of the theory of five evolutive phases and six climatic factors and made comprehensive discussion on diagnosis and treatment of epidemic febrile diseases in Detailed Analysis of Epidemic Warm Diseases. In this paper,Wu Jutong’s idea of five evolutive phases and six climatic factors in differentiating and treating epidemic febrile diseases was deeply discussed. It puts forward that the cold and warm of epidemic diseases are different depended on the difference of five evolutive phases and six climatic factors,the differentiation and treatment of epidemic infectious disease should pay attention to the warm and cool,the insidious summer-heat evil is easily induced by host climatic qi and sovereign fire,the pox syndrome belongs to the epidemic warm diseases and its key treatments lie on the root cause. These views are of the important value and significance for the present research of five evolutive phases and six climatic factors on the diagnosis and treatment of warm diseases and comprehensive understanding of Wu Jutong’s academic thoughts.
