Clinical research of the effects of Xi’s cortex erythrinae Decoction with external wash in the treatment of varicose ulcer of lower extremity
Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Xi’s cortex erythrinae Decoction with external wash in the treatment of varicose ulcer of lower extremity (ecthyma). Methods 60 patients with ecthyma were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group,30 cases in each group. The control group was received the conventional treatment, the treatment group was treated with Xi’s cortex erythrinae Decoction for external wash based on the treatment for the control group, with a course of 30 days. The clinical efficacy was observed, the scores of clinical symptoms and signs(the size, depth, quantity, color of ulcer and so on)and inflammation related indicators white blood cell(WBC),high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)were compared. Results: ①The clinical cure rate and total effective rate in the treatment group were 42.86% and 95.24% respectively, those in the control group were 33.33% and 88.89%. There were statistically significant differences on the clinical efficacy between the two groups, and the effect of the treatment group was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05). ②Compared with the control group after treatment, the size of ulcer was significantly reduced and the depth and color of ulcer was obviously improved in the treatment group, the quantity of ulcer and exudant were decreased obviously, and the neonatal granulation tissue and neonatal epithelial tissue were significantly increased, and the degree of pain was significantly relieved(P<0.05). ③For the comparison of treatment before and after within group, the levels of WBC and hs-CRP were significantly decreased in the two groups, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). For the comparison between groups after treatment, the decrease of WBC and hs-CRP levels in the treatment were more significant than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: Xi’s cortex erythrinae Decoction with external wash can be used in the treatment of varicose ulcer of lower extremity (ecthyma),which significantly improve the clinical symptoms and signs of patients and accelerate ulcer healing.
