This paper introduced Professor Li Qizhong’s clinical experience in differentiating and treating acute and chronic cough and asthma. Under the guidance of theories of Zhang Jingyue and Cheng Zhongling,he emphasizes the nature of lung as Jiao-zang and the property of purifying and descending. The medication should be gentle for lung diseases. The treatments for cough and asthma concentrate on dispersing and descending and convergence. Proper balance in ventilating and descending of lung qi is critical to treatment. Concurrence of liver and lung diseases can be treated with Sini Powder. Lung diseases affected by the stomach dysfunction can be treated with Baohe Pill. Damage of both lung and kidney can be treated by recovering the lung function of astringing and improving the kidney function of receiving qi.
