Tong Xiaolin’s experience in differentiating and treating cold-dryness syndrome
This paper introduced Professor Tong Xiaolin’s new interpretation of cold-dryness caused by internal disorder. He considers that cold-dryness is not simply dry but dues to deficiency of yang qi,which is difficult to steam fluid to distribute and moist the whole body, and consequently forms dryness symptoms in the skin, mucous membranes and five sense organs, especially common in middle-aged and elderly patients with yang deficiency. Followed the treatment principles of traditional Chinese medicine as“homotherapy for heteropathy based on the pathogenesis”,Professor Tong applies the main prescriptions such as Shengyang Yiwei Decoction,Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Decoction,Wutou Decoction,Gegen Decoction,Erxian Decoction,Zhenwu Decoction,Mahuang Fuzi Xixin Decoction in the treatment of cold-dryness syndrome to warm yang, disperse cold and dredge collaterals.
