Influence of blood-promoting and water-disinhibiting therapy on neurological function of massive cerebral infarction patients following decompressive hemicraniectomy
Objective:To observe the effects of blood-promoting and water-disinhibiting therapy on neurological function of massive cerebral infarction patients following decompressive hemicraniectomy. MethodsSixty subjects were randomly divided into the treatment group and control group (30 cases in each group), and treated with routine therapies of western medicine. The treatment group was additionally given the prescription herbs of blood-promoting and water-disinhibiting, with a course of 14 days. The NIH stroke scales (NIHSS), and the serum levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and lipid peroxides (LPO) were observed before and after treatment. Results:After treatment, the NIHSS was decreased in both groups compared with the treatment before(P<0.05,P<0.01), and that in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.01). The level of LPO was decreased in both groups compared with the treatment before (P<0.01), and that in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.01). The level of SOD were increased in both groups compared with the treatment before (P<0.01), and that in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion: The blood-promoting and water-disinhibiting therapy may improve neurological function of postoperative patients with cerebral infarction through anti-oxidation and scavenging oxygen free radicals.
