Objective:To study the clinical characteristics and platelet parameters of different syndrome of TCM in senile hypertensive. MethodsA total of 127 cases of senile hypertensive patients were selected,among which 19 cases with yang excess and yin deficiency,25 cases with qi deficiency and blood stasis,38 cases with deficiency of both qi and yin,27 cases with phlegm and blood stasis,18 cases with yang deficiency in spleen and kidney. The clinical features and the platelet parameters in patients with different syndrome types were compared.  Results:①Compared with other types, the levels of SBP, DBP, TC, LDL and ratio of cerebral infarction (89.5%) in patients with yang excess and yin deficiency were obviously increased(P<0.05). ② Compared with other types, the platelet distribution width (PDW) in patients with yang excess and yin deficiency was highest(P<0.05)and the mean platelet volume(MPV) was lowest(P<0.05)；there were no significant differences on PDW and MPV among the other syndrome types(P>0.05).Compared among the different syndrome types, the differences of platelet count (PLT), plateletcrit (PCT), platelet large cell ratio (P-LCR) were hot statistically significant (P>0.05).  Conclusion:PDW and MPV are closely related to the senile hypertensive patients with yang excess and yin deficiency,which could be used as one of the objective reference basis for syndrome differentiation.
