Reconsideration on three prescriptions for consumptive diseases in Synopsis of Prescription of the Golden Cabinet
This paper analyzes the three prescriptions for consumptive diseases in Synopsis of Prescription of the Golden Cabinet from their composition, herbal dosage, indications, herbal combination and prescription syndromes. It is argued that the consumptive diseases are treated by balancing yin and yang in the therapeutic principle of Internal Medicine; that “Zhigancao Decoction”, “Xiao Jianzhong Decoction” and “Bawei Shenqi Pill” act to regulate yin and yang respectively in the upper, middle and lower energizer. It is proposed that these three prescriptions should be classified into yin-yang-nourishing prescriptions.
