Clinical observation of ear-acupunture with abdominal respirationin in treating senile post-stroke insomnia
Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of earacupuncture with abdominal respiration in the treatment of senile post-stroke insomnia. MethodsSeventy-four subjects were randomized into treatment group (n=38) and control group (n=36). All the cases were given conventional nursing care, and the treatment group was additionally given earacupuncture and abdominal respiration, with a course of four weeks. The clinical efficacy and the sleep quality was evaluated with Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) before and after treatment. Results:The overall effective rate was 91.67% in the treatment group and 84.21% in the control group, with better efficacy in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.01). The PSQI score was decreased more significantly in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05, P<0.01). Conclusion:Earacupuncture with abdominal respiration can obviously improve senile post-stroke insomnia.
