This paper explores the therapy and syndromes of impotence due to depression syndrome. It indicates that impotence cannot be restricted to the dogma of “decline of kidney and life gate fire”. Sorrow,anxiety,depression,terrified,abominate,timidity,frustrated,psychentonia,psychological pressure,hyperactivity of heart-fire and liver-fire,chronic fatigue,sub-health,and even bad environment are familiar causes of impotence. This kind of impotence caused by emotional changes all belong to impotence due to depression syndrome,and existed much more clinically. The expound of the therapy and syndromes of impotence due to depression syndrome by ancient Chinese medicine was detailed and abundant,but it doesn’t caused enough attention. The doctors need not only to understand the etiology and course by inquiry and listening and smelling examination,but also have an insight into the heart and realize the patient,and distinguish the form of depression. We could not blindly supplement essence only in the treatment,but also dispel melancholy,soothe the liver and relaxed,tonify spleen and embolden,regulate qi movement,and indicate the patient to aware kindly. The impotence due to depression syndrome is interlinked psychogenic erectile dysfunction of modern medicine.
